World’s Poultry Science Association Women Wing, Pakistan meeting at Lahore Garrison University (LGU) on 5th April 2022.

World’s Poultry Science Association Women Wing Pakistan organized an executive body meeting at Lahore Garrison University, Lahore. The meeting was hosted by Dr Roheela Yasmeen Gen Secretary North Zone WPSA WW Assistant Professor, Editor in Chief LGUJLS, Biology Department, Lahore Garrison University. The event started with the formal welcome of all the guests by Col.
Dr Muhammad Amjad Khan (Retd) Dean of Basic Sciences and Faculty members, Lahore Garrison University. The formal proceedings started with an Introductory Presentation on WPSA and its structure by President Women Wing Dr Fareeha Talha. She also focused on the collaboration of LGU in future WPSA activities. She also praised General Secretary North Zone Women Wing Dr Roheela Yasmeen for her efforts and Dr Aisha Waheed Qurashi, Associate Professor Chairperson Department of Biology Lahore Garrison University. She also appreciated the positive gesture of Col.
Dr Muhammad Amjad Khan (Retd), Dean of Basic Sciences at Lahore Garrison University. The event was also joined by Senior Vice President WPSA WW Dr Mahr un Nisa, Chairperson / Professor Department of Nutritional Sciences, Government College University, Faisalabad. She shared her experience with Consumer Awareness Lab in GCUF and gave a briefing of WPSA activities in the past year.
In the meeting with Dr Fareeha Talha and Dr MehruNisa, the Vice-Chancellor Maj Gen (R) Shahzad Sikandar Lahore Garrison University emphasised the collaboration of academia and industry. He said he will be pleased to host such activities in future.
Dr Fareeha Talha in her discussion with the Vice-Chancellor said this concept is wrong and that the poultry industry is related to the only veterinary industry it’s related to everyone directly or indirectly who is consuming poultry and poultry products. Dr Fareeha Talha said your university might not be directly related to the veterinary industry but your certain departments once the industry collaborates with them can be helpful in many ways in research for example Genetics. Moreover, she said that the Pakistani nation is suffering from malnutrition food insecurity and stunted growth in children it's the duty of every Pakistani who has an impact must contribute against this food insecurity and malnutrition.
Dr Mehru Nisa added that for the first time in Pakistan rather than in the whole world WPSA women wing Pakistan branch has taken an initiative and developed a consumer awareness lab in GCU Faisalabad. The meeting was very successful and the Vice-Chancellor Maj Gen Shahzad Sikandar (retd) concluded by offering his resources for any kind of industry-related research where they can be of any help and awareness to civil society about malnutrition. President WW presented the world Poultry Science General and souvenirs to Vice-Chancellor and Executive Vice President presented the world Poultry science General and souvenirs to the Dean of the Department of Basic Sciences.
In the internal meeting of WW, the activities and plans were discussed among the members for the year 2022. The event was organized by Dr Zahra Zaman Gen Sec WW and Vice President Dr Najam u Sehar WPSA Women Wing.
Dr Iqra Khalid Umair ( Vice President Women Wing), Dr Saba Mehnaz, and Mrs Humaira Farooq also participated in this event. Other members of the WPSA Women Wing also participated in meeting through Zoom Link. In the closing moments, there was a Cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the Women's Day Celebration. In the end, WPSA journals and diaries were distributed among the members.
