Selection of animals and milk production

The purchase and selection of animals is the most important factor in determining the direction of profit and loss of any dairy farm.  The question arises on what basis the animals should be selected.

 1. Eye: -

The eyes are also called the window of soul and body. When buying an animal, it is important to observe the animal's eyes first.  The eyes of an animal indicate its health. If the eyes are bright, clear, and shiny then it means that the animal is healthy and fit.  Blurred vision is a sign that the animal is in poor health and that the animal is under stress.

 2. Body structure

The second thing is that the waist and spine of the animal should not be too twisted or like a bow, especially in imported breeds of cows, the back and spine must be straight.  In addition, if the animal is seen from the front, its front part must be thinner than the back part.  Or the back side should be wider than the front.  The widening of the animal's pelvic width or hole bone is a significant indication of increased milk production and fertility of the animal.

 3. Neck and Head

Easy movement of the head and neck, etc., is also a sign of improved animal health.  The long neck is the hallmark of a good breed of animal.

 4. Udder

Havana is of paramount importance in milk production and often large Havana is not a guarantor of high milk production.  Havana should be wider.  Havana must be well connected to the abdomen.  The bifurcated country should look like Venezia Pete. The blood vessels should also be prominent.  Havana's normal color, more red or pink color may be an indication of an infection.

 5. Teats

The next important observation is of the nipples. For this, place your palm under the nipples. If all four nipples touch the palm together, it means that all the nipples are equal.  Small size teats should never be preferred.  Along with this, the distance between the teats should be equal, the teats should be flexible and of natural color.
