Ayrshire Cow

Ayrshire cows are a breed of dairy cattle from Ayrshire in southwest Scotland. A mature Ayrshire cow weighs 450 to 600 kg. Ayrshires usually have red and white markings. Red can range from a shade of orange to dark brown. This breed is known for its hardiness and ability to efficiently convert grass into milk. The strengths of this breed today are calving ease and longevity. Although they are now in Aryshire, now Scotland, many cattle historians believe that the Aryshire breed originated in Holland in the 1750s, where they were bred with other breeds of cattle/cow farming, which led to their distinctive gray color. There were spots. In 1814 the breed was recognized as a distinct breed by the Highland and Agricultural Society. Many modern dairy farmers favor the Ayrshire because of the breed's longevity, hardiness, and calving ease. These characteristics are believed to have evolved due to the rugged conditions of its native habitat.

Aryshire cattle were first brought to the United States in 1822, primarily to Connecticut and other parts of New England. The environment was similar to his native Scotland. The American Ayrshire Breed Association was founded in 1875. The Approved Ayrshire Milk Programme, which licensed farms owning Ayrshire cattle, began in the 1930s. Ariesshire milk was identified as being of higher quality than other breeds. Today, these cattle are owned by farmers in many areas of the United States, including New York and Pennsylvania. In 2008, there were 63,356 Ayrshire cattle registered in the UK. In the United States, Ariesshire cattle are considered a "recovery" breed by the Livestock Conservancy, despite a significant decline in registries over the past 30 years. That means more than 2,500 registrations a year, but the breed still needs monitoring

The Ayrshire is a moderate breed. High-producing Aryshire cows regularly exceed 20,000 pounds of milk annually. The current Ayrshire world record is held by Let Farms Betty Ada. In 305 days, milked twice a day, she produced 37,170 pounds (17,700 liters of milk and produced 1592 pounds of fat.
